They also come to soak up the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit that distinguishes ONA conferences.

If you’re interested in sponsoring or exhibiting at ONA10, or just want more information, fill out this form and we’ll contact you to discuss the right opportunity for your company.

Attendee Profile
In 2009, for the third year in a row, our conference sold out, with attendance surpassing the previous high of nearly 800 attendees from around the world. ONA conference attendees are a tech-savvy bunch. They include producers, content editors, technologists, programmers, designers and newsroom decision-makers from major media markets, independent websites and leading academic institutions. They are interested in the latest in software, hardware, content and distribution platforms.

Your exposure
We don’t have a media list for our conference, and there’s a reason. Everyone you will meet is a member of the media, either hailing from a media technology website or thought leaders in their area with robust social networks. Make an impression on an ONA10 attendee and they’ll blog or tweet about it. ONA09 attendees included representatives of ContentNext Media, Macworld/PC World, MediaBistro, Nieman Journalism Lab, Knight Digital Media Centers at Berkeley, USC and Miami, and Computerworld, to name a few.

And your chance for exposure doesn’t stop when the last attendee leaves. Talk about our 2009 conference has continued well beyond the event:

@suzanneyada: That’s great news! Here is what some attendees had to say about ONA09:

“As the digerati arrived in San Francisco … I stopped by the job fair to see who was looking for recruits in this awful journalism job market … the busiest and most-striking tables were staffed by recruiters you wouldn’t have expected to see at a journalism conference just a few years ago…”
— Neiman Journalism Lab

(Mark Briggs and) I both saw something had changed in the attitudes we saw from the journalists in the room, or at the very least, that there was something different about this conference. He was using the word “swagger” to describe it.”
— Ryan Sholin, Publish2 and Invisible Inkling

@jayrosen_nyu: Cuz journalists at #ONA09 had reconciled themselves to “it’s never going to be what it was…” they were open to, “it’s going to be better!”

What I found fascinating was the emphasis on doing it yourself. The whole conference was not “How we can save journalism,” but more “How we can create new journalism.” It was about following your passions, whether that takes you to starting a new site, or just moving jobs. … The question of “What comes next?” was met with resounding confidence in the age-old values of journalism and the ways that their practice can be amplified and supported by digital media.
— Frances Tobin, Politicsdaily.com

ONA09 recap
Some highlights from the 2009 Online News Association Conference and Awards Banquet, held Oct. 1-3 at the San Francisco Hilton:

Twitter CEO Evan Williams sat down for a headline-making keynote interview.

Speakers Leo Laporte and BlogHer CEO Lisa Stone shared their inspirational journeys from journalists to entrepreneurs.

Session speakers included cutting-edge industry leaders such as Hoa Loranger of Nielsen Media Group; Krishna Bharat, Google chief scientist and creator of Google News; and Paul Berry, Chief Technology Officer of HuffingtonPost.com.

Our day-long Career Summit featured industry-leading recruiters and career counselors, followed by a Job Fair with recruiters from AOL, Yahoo!, the New York Times, Gannett/USA TODAY, Demand Studios, Patch Media and Voice of America.

The Online Journalism Awards, the only annual awards competition recognizing the best and the brightest work in digital news, opened new categories to honor technical innovation, outstanding use of digital technologies and community collaboration.

Why Sponsor or Exhibit at ONA10?
